When Solutions With Innovation first opened its doors to the creation of level sensors in 1999 under the Innovative Solutions division, economical products aimed to solve application problems for leading industry clients began to develop. Out of our vast line of customized devices such as the L Series float level switches, most are still in production today. However, as with any growing company, some products seem to come and go with their demand. In the spirit of "Throwback Thursday", we look to the past at some of our early innovations - all of which contributed to our organization's expansion.
1. CS001 RF Capacitance Level Transmitter (2002)![]()
The model CS001 RF Capacitance Level Transmitter provides linear level measurement in extreme process temperatures and fluid conditions. It features fully programmable 4-button calibration for specific medias and is available in NEMA 4 (IP65), or explosion-proof housing. Probe is 316L stainless steel, comes in lengths up to 120 in. and contains Teflon encapsulated electrode. Applications include refrigerant systems, food and beverage processing, and storage tanks.
The CS001 was the original predecessor of our first generation CS01 Series and now, second generation CS02 Series. 2. L500C Remote Chamber Level Switch (2003)![]()
The model L500C Remote Chamber Level Switch mounts outside the tank where inside mounting is impractical or impossible. The vertically installed unit features all brass or 316 SS body with 316L SS internal float assembly. It is rated for operating pressures to 750 PSIG at 70 F and max operating temperatures to 300 F. Housing can safely contain over pressure to 1,500 PSIG. Ample clearance between float and chamber wall avoids particle entrapment and jamming. Ports are 3/4" or 1" NPT.
The L500C was originally introduced with the smaller L312B Series. Consumers preferred the more compact L312B chamber switch because limited space constraints in applications requiring exterior mounting. 3. L090SA "Swing Arm" Level Switch (2003)![]()
The stainless steel, Swing Arm model L090SA comes with one or two 100VA, single or double throw switches for single or dual point operation. Clearance between the moving arm and mounting stem provides self-cleaning action with each movement. Rated to 300 F, the unit is suited for parts washers, plating baths, industrial cleaning systems, and food and beverage processing equipment.
The L090SA "Swing Arm" mechanism was replaced with the S003 Series "Trombone" Level Switch, ideal for level sensing in dirty or viscous fluids. 4. VLI-1250A Compact Magnetic Level Indicator (2004)![]()
The compact model VLI-1250A provides full isolation between its pressure chamber and indicator face for highly visible level readings. High contrast black/gold or red/white indicator flags are coupled to the 316L stainless steel float assembly. The 1-1/4" diameter chamber handles line pressures up to 750 PSIG with special designs rated up to 3,000 PSIG. A variety of NPT, welded, flanged and sanitary connections are available.
The VLI-1250A was introduced along its larger diameter counterpart, the VLI2500 Series. Consumers preferred the larger diameter and more robust VLI2500. 5. L071 Level Switch For Industrial Use (2005)![]()
The series L071 combines hazardous duty design with 15 Amp, SPDT snap-acting switch contact. The standard 316L stainless steel device operates in fluids with specific graivities as low as 0.40. It is available in 2" NPT as well as BSP, ANSI flanges, and optional NEMA enclosures. Series L071 is rated Class I, Div. 1, Groups C, D and E, and is suited for combustible and pressurized storage tanks, seal pots, scrubbers and pump systems.
The L071 was offered alongside the L070 Series, a device that did not have the 15 Amp micro-switch. As a result, the L071 was less popular than the L070 among industrial buyers. |
