6/11/2015 Defining "Innovation"
From the beginning, our company has prided itself on innovation from welding techniques to low-cost custom sensors. We have repeatedly stressed the idea so much that it has been at the forefront of our business names (Innovative Fusion, Innovative Solutions, Solutions With Innovation). However, while the company continues to grow on this foundation of engineering "innovative solutions" for industrial applications, the word has evolved from an abstract idea to a generic term that most companies have adopted. Therefore, it is time to define "innovation" on our terms.
Innovating What?
In today's high-tech world, technology is infinitely changing. SWI's product innovation does not stem from developing the newest sensing technologies, but rather improving on existing ideas. Our mission is simply to provide our customers with custom products that are both affordable and built to last even as the technology changes. All of our products are manufactured onsite with conflict-free minerals in an effort to improve our global impact on the manufacturing industry.
Innovating How?
It is easy to boast about innovation, but it is much more difficult to demonstrate how. As the age-old saying goes, "don't work harder, work smarter". SWI is a company with many talents, but maintains a surprisingly small workforce. With only 60 employees, we supply leading companies around the world with thousands of floats, welded components and sensors every year. Our employees are ultimately responsible for our expanding capabilities. They are all vital assets with their own individual skills that contribute to our organization as a whole. Every person is encouraged to invest in themselves in order to grow their own skill set and apply what they learn to our everyday business practices. At SWI, our employees are not numbers -- they are part of our Innovative family.
Innovative Why?
Why not? As a business to business company, our customers are using our products to fulfill their own goals. From custom configurations to custom sensor designs, we are helping them monitor and protect their valuable automated processes. Every component is expertly selected by our team of engineers based on customer specifications. It is our belief as industrial equipment manufacturers that we supply only products that are fully compatible with our client's individual systems - no sales pitches, no useless add-ons, no smoke and mirrors.
Innovative Where?
Innovation is not limited to our products and services. While we celebrate our ability to provide custom sensors at an affordable price, we continuously invest in manufacturing optimization and employee training. Our 14,500 square foot facility has been redesigned to integrate real-time data technology into our lean manufacturing processes. SWI's founder continues to lead our company's journey toward lean automated manufacturing. He remains entrenched in every aspect of the company to insure that all transitions run seamlessly.
Innovative When?
SWI has always been a forward-thinking company. When Innovative Fusion was founded in the early eighties, electron beam and laser welding processes were still new technologies that were limited to the aerospace and nuclear industries. We were able to offer quality products at reasonable prices for the advanced welding procedures. Since then, our company pairs its welding experience and inventive thought processes to solve unique welding challenges that competitors turn away.
Solutions With Innovation is a company that is determined to maintain its small business ideals despite corporate expansion. From our network of seasoned suppliers to our long-time customers, we go above and beyond to ensure that our partnerships are based on more than just monetary values. Our products are engineered with each client in mind and we base our own success on the success of our customers. We are innovative not only because it is in our name, but because we infuse it into everything we do.
