On Friday, October 9th, SWI celebrated its annual Employee Appreciation Day by hosting an outdoor picnic among the colorful autumn foliage. The entire SWI workforce was treated to delicious brick oven pizzas, specially prepared and cooked on-site by Big Green Truck Pizza from New Haven, CT. With an assortment of Italian gelato and cupcake towers frosted in blue hues, coworkers could enjoy a sweet, sugar-filled afternoon. A few energetic associates took up a game of tug-o-war on our front lawn and others, especially our engineers, battled against one another in a Kan Jam Frisbee tournament. Overall, the 2015 Employee Appreciation Day was a success at bringing together our hardworking SWI team for hours filled with food, drinks and outdoor fun on a beautiful October day.
The 2015 fiscal year is rapidly approaching its midpoint. Businesses often take this time to prioritize their remaining projects and reflect on what ventures will be carried out in the following year. It is also at this point that the array of looming deadlines and unfulfilled list of yearly goals determines how successful the next six months will be.
From the beginning, our company has prided itself on innovation from welding techniques to low-cost custom sensors. We have repeatedly stressed the idea so much that it has been at the forefront of our business names (Innovative Fusion, Innovative Solutions, Solutions With Innovation). However, while the company continues to grow on this foundation of engineering "innovative solutions" for industrial applications, the word has evolved from an abstract idea to a generic term that most companies have adopted. Therefore, it is time to define "innovation" on our terms.
When Solutions With Innovation first opened its doors to the creation of level sensors in 1999 under the Innovative Solutions division, economical products aimed to solve application problems for leading industry clients began to develop. Out of our vast line of customized devices such as the L Series float level switches, most are still in production today. However, as with any growing company, some products seem to come and go with their demand. In the spirit of "Throwback Thursday", we look to the past at some of our early innovations - all of which contributed to our organization's expansion.
